Here's what he said (all his own ideas, we just helped with the format):"Heavenly Father has put us in families so that we can learn and grow, be loved and learn to love and to serve others. In my family, everyone has a job to do. Dad goes to work, Mom cleans the house and asks the kids to do things. The kids need to feed the pets. We have two dogs and a lizard that need food and water everyday. The dogs need to go outside to go potty too, and then we have to poop scoop.
Everybody helps with Family Home Evening. We take turns teaching the lesson, choosing and activity, and choosing the treats.
Some other jobs I have to do are: clean my room, set the table, say nice things, and don't wake up in the middle of the night. My baby brother Zander is still learning that job.
I also tell Mom and Dad when it's time for family prayers. We take turns saying prayers. I know if we choose the right Heavenly Father will bless us. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
Mike helped him give his talk. When Mike sat down he turned to me said, "We killed." Which is actually true. The Primary kids were still laughing two hours later when church was over.
On Monday, the kids had the day off school, so we went to the Draper temple open house. Where I didn't take any pictures. Nevertheless, the temple was beautiful, the cookies afterwards were great and the long wait for the shuttle bus (because a bus had broken down) to take us back to our car, could have been worse.
Then we went to El Farol (our favorite Mexican restaurant) and let all of the boys spill on their white church shirts. We had a great time, but I'm not sure the shirts will ever be the same.
On Tuesday, Marissa went to the doctor for a strep infection and ended up missing 2 days of school. Lucky Marissa!
On Wednesday, Connor had his Nuestra Noche Hispana. It involved singing (in Spanish) and dancing. He did a great job, and recovered nicely when his sombrero fell off in the middle of his dance. Again no pictures were taken, but we have tons of video. If I ever figure out how to do it, I'll edit this post and add it.
On Thursday, Marissa had Images of Greatness. Her subject was Jane Goodall. She prepared a display board and scrapbook/magazine about her
and then performed a bio-riddle (a riddle she wrote about Jane Goodall). She also dressed up as Jane Goodall, and even took her own chimpanzee. Thanks to Aunt Melissa, we had a monkey costume for Zander. He acted just like a chimp during Marissa's performance, trying to grab the microphone, and Marissa kept her cool, and stopped him from touching it, while not missing a beat of her presentation. Marissa did a fantastic job on her research and presentation.
On Friday, Mike decided the kids needed some fun, and took them to see the new Witch Mountain movie. Zander and I stayed home. I hear the movie was great. Bronson says it's his favorite movie and now he doesn't like any other movies. Must have been some movie!
We finished up the week with Saturday.
Annika had her knowledge bowl competition at 8:00 this morning. She's been studying for two and a half months, and I have been teaching literature once a week to 7 of the kids for the same amount of time. I had fun teaching them, all of the kids were great. Annika's team was awesome, they outscored their 4 opponents by a combined 880 to 165. I'm so proud of all of them.All of this was on top of all of our regular activities: School, Piano, Gymnastics, Young Women, Activity Days, etc.
Now, I'm going to take a deep breath relax for a minute or two and try hard not to think about the fact that soccer starts next week, and I have 2 teams to coach. Maybe I'll have time to post again in 6 more months!
